NEW! Arai RX-7 Corsair Full Face Helmet with Clear Faceshield.
Intermediate Oval Fit - Relaxed Round Oval interior for enhanced fit.
Features NEW PATENTED SNC® CONSTRUCTION (on RX-7 Corsair): SNC "Structural Net Composite" is Arai's newest and most advanced shell construction. It incorporates a structural net reinforcing material embedded between Arai's exclusive Super Complex Laminate Construction layers. The specially-developed strands bond the layers more rigidly to further improve shell integrity and impact-force management. SNC also allows for more weight to be removed from the top of the shell, reducing overall helmet weight by almost three ounces (RX-7 Corsair vs. previous RX-7 models) while it lowers the center of gravity, resulting in better balance and reduced fatigue for increased all-day comfort. NEW, ENHANCED "ORGANIC" SHELL SHAPE (on RX-7 Corsair and Signet GTR) has a more natural appearance, seals better, and conforms more to the head's natural shape for improved comfort, fit, and to help minimize wind turbulence. Contributing to the shape are a new bottom trim, new non-removable neckroll, a reduced gap between the shield and shell that further minimizes wind turbulence flowing over the shield and onto the shell. And new shell-mold features that strengthen the shell, enhance airflow and overall appearance.
INNOVATIVE NEW DRY-COOL® LINING MATERIAL (on RX-7 Corsair): New Dry-Cool® liner material, with its rich color and perforated satin feel, actually utilizes micro water cells to improve moisture and heat transfer from your head into the airflow around Arai's exclusive, patented Space Frame Liner. Leaves your head dryer and cooler (hence the name) at the end of a long or hot ride. Dry-Cool also allows the liner to dry much faster between rides.
NEW TYPE 8 DIFFUSER & "DELTA-3" TOP CENTER INTAKE SCOOP (on RX-7 Corsair): New "Type-8" Diffuser design features redesigned and improved intake and exhaust ports to both improve airflow and reduce wind turbulence. Also has larger 10mm diffuser holes (increased from 7.8mm on previous RX-7) to move even more air. The new top scoop scavenges more air to help improve interior airflow even further.
NEW PATENTED DUAL-PIVOT® CHIN VENT (on RX-7 Corsair): New two-position dual-pivot hinge mechanism allows for increased airflow capacity to two areas. The first vent position directs air directly to face, through a carbon filter; the second position directs air to shield for de-fogging.
NEW BREATHGUARD DESIGN (on RX-7 Corsair): Works in conjunction with the Dual-Pivot Chin Vent to better direct fresh air to the inside surface of the shield while at the same time directing hot breath down and away from the inside surface of the shield.
SNELL and D.O.T. Think about it, if you're going to wear a helmet at all doesn't it make sense to wear one that meets the best standard available — Snell.
All Arai helmets easily meet or exceed both Snell and D.O.T. standards. (NOTE: the Snell Standard does not cover the Rockguard in two-piece off-road helmets. In one-piece, full-face models, the Standard covers the Chinbar for deflection only.)
As a service, we direct your attention to the important labels contained inside your Arai helmet. One of these is the label sewn into the padded liner. Your helmet will also have the Snell-certification label glued to the liner inside. We strongly urge you to read and understand these before wearing your Arai helmet. Arai Head Size Chart XS 53-54cm Small 55-56cm Medium 57-58cm Large 59-60cm XL 61-62cm XXL 63-64cm
Interior Comfort Lining Thickness is based on helmet size (see below); Optional thickness available in 12mm, 10mm, 7mm, 5mm.

Note that head circumference measurements should be used only as a starting point to determine your helmet size. Final judgment should follow actual test fitting of one or more of Arai's various interior fit packages to determine the best possible fit for you!
NOTE: As specification and fit can change from year-to-year, month-to-month, and even production run to production run, it is recommended that you make your decision based on fit.
THE IMPORTANCE OF ARAI'S 3 INTERIOR SHELL SHAPES TO YOU After many years of customer feedback, we have found that helmet satisfaction starts with understanding - most importantly, understanding how proper fit affects helmet performance during everyday riding. And, with Arai, how that comfort extends to the actual shell shape itself, which is why we offer three different interior shell shapes. (Arai does not believe that all-day comfort can be achieved by trying to stuff every head shape into a single helmet interior shape.)
In order to offer the most comfort, a helmet must fit snugly around the entire head contour. (This is partly determined by firm, even pressure at all contact points, and without pressure points that could become uncomfortable in the future) A previous helmet of the same brand, model and size - even if an Arai - may not offer the same fit as a current model or size because the evolution of design and use of new materials can affect the final design. (For example, such advances and refinements have made our new RX-7 Corsair and Quantum-2 shapes able to fit more riders than their immediate predecessors, the RX-7 RR4 and Quantum/f.)
Attention must be paid to the fit of the model's shape around the crown of your head and not with facial fit. (The part that is contacted by a baseball cap's band, for example, is the crown) Cheek pads in all Arai helmets can be replaced with a size that better suits your facial structure, so they should only be addressed after the crown is properly sized. All too often tight cheek pads will result in purchasing a helmet one or even two sizes too big — in effect sizing the face and not the head! The end result will be a loose and noisy helmet, as described above. (Riders with a strong jaw or heavy cheeks should first remove the cheekpads completely in order to not be distracted in determining crown fit.)
How can you determine which Arai interior shell shape is best suited for you? In general, our interiors for the North American markets have an oval shape orientation (somewhat longer front-to-back and a little narrow from side-to-side) because that is the shape that tends to fit most of us. Our different models then vary slightly based on that general Oval shape to accommodate a much wider fit range.
1. LONG OVAL (very long front-to-back, very narrow side-to-side). On this end of the scale, we have the new Profile model, offering additional forehead room for those who find that most helmets have pressure points in the forehead.
2. INTERMEDIATE OVAL (a little shorter front-to-back and a little wider side-to-side than the Long Oval). This next fit package comes in our RX-7 CORSAIR model, which begins the shift from oblong towards round.
3. ROUND OVAL (even a little shorter front-to-back and a little wider side-to-side). This next fit package is represented by both our Quantum-2 and our Astral-X models.
The Astral-X has a slightly more relaxed fit - a bit more room in the forehead area — mainly because the Astral has a non-removable liner.
The Quantum-2's liner, on the other hand, is fully-removable, which makes it feel a bit more round. Be sure to try both on to determine which feels better on your head.
No one pays more attention to the subtle variations and the infinite possibilities of the human head shape than Arai. And, even though we know we can never build a perfect shape for everyone, we go to the extra time and expense to make a genuine effort to offer shapes that allow more people to find a better and more comfortable fit than by simply offering one model. This is why it is important for you to understand the different aspects of sizing as it relates to brands, models and in Arai's case — interior shapes. |
